The OSM3 performs an automatic water calibration (zero point) every 2 hours.
Press the CAL key when it is lit, to perform water calibration manually.
The water calibration acceptable limits are between 0 and 500. If the water calibration result decreases, it may indicate a contaminated cuvette.
Perform Total Hemoglobin Calibration every three months.
a. Perform a protein cleaning procedure. Refer to Maintenance procedure.
b. Verify water calibration is within acceptable limits.
c. Press ASPIRATE and CAL keys until ENTER light is on.
d. Press ENTER key and the READY light is on.
e. Open the inlet flap and inject 200 µL of tHgb Calibrator. Close the inlet flap.
f. The OSM3 is calibrated when the results are displayed and the instrument returns to the READY mode.
g. Check the calibration by assaying another 200 µL of Calibrator in the HbA mode. Results must be 12.5 ± 0.1 g/dL. If not, repeat the calibration
